Offsite Attendees will not receive meals at Asilomar

The Asilomar Conference Center is one of the premier conference sites on the Pacific Coast of North America and its 107 acres are known as Monterey Peninsula's "Refuge by the Sea". While attending the symposium you will have the opportunity to walk the grounds and along the protected beach front and observe the plants and animals that live in the area. You will also be only minutes from the city of Monterey where you can visit the famed Aquarium, go on a whale watching trip or even rent a kayak and venture out onto Monterey Bay.

Asilomar is approximately 120 miles south of downtown San Francisco (about 105 miles from San Francisco International Airport) and about 75 miles south of San Jose. Detailed driving directions are available here, http://www.visitasilomar.com/maps.aspx.

Because Asilomar is not just a hotel but a retreat from the hustle and bustle of the world, your room and meals will be different from your typical hotel. All meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) are included in the cost of your room and will be eaten in the Crocker Dining Hall. Your room will be located in one of the small cabins or cottages located on the grounds. Most cabins/cottages have a common sitting room where you will be able to talk with other attendees. While the rooms do not have TV or internet access, the conference hall will have wireless internet access. Because of the special nature of Asilomar, the room reservation process for this year's meeting will be different than past year's.
  • Rooms must be reserved by September 12th, 2008 to receive the conference room rate ($589.30).
  • Rooms must be reserved using the downloadable forms provided here. Phone reservations will not be accepted. Do not use the on-line reservation page on the Asilomar webpage.
  • All meals are included in the room rate.
  • Rooms must be reserved for all three nights. No partial stays are permitted.
  • Asilomar offers a discount of $224.30 for attendees reserving a double room with a roommate. Because Asilomar is meant to promote relaxing and informal discussion among its guest, we encourage everyone (especially students and post-docs) to share a room with a colleague.
  • Rooms for three or four guests as well as a couple of cottage suites are available. If you are interested in these options please contact Dr. Jeffrey Peloquin, (jeffreypeloquin@boisestate.edu), for further information.
  • If you will be staying offsite please contact Dr. Jeffrey Peloquin, (jeffreypeloquin@boisestate.edu), as separate arrangements will need to be made for access to the conference room and meals.
  • Room reservation does not include conference registration. All attendees must register on our registration page.

If you have problems reserving a room please contact the conference finance chair, Dr. Jeff Peloquin, at (208) 426-1423 or jeffreypeloquin@boisestate.edu.
